Sometimes I feel like giving up on this. Sometimes I hate movies. I hate that I love them so much and that I know everything about them. It's a mastery of a subject that has no practical usefulness. I've spent my entire life obsessing over film and, quite frankly, I have wasted away on account of it. Yet it's an art-from that gives me the feeling of warmth, of happiness, and of permanence. Films give me a cultural identity. Many films have changed my life but I have not changed any film. Films are static beings, they do not have lives of their own, there is no spike in the spiritual evolution of one. Films are about dead things. They are artifacts that speak to us with lies. I slave over my love for an art-form that refuses to allow me to touch it because I know that there's life somewhere inside of every film I've ever seen, regardless of how much I know about them. They have heartbeats and bad times just like me. They can feel me observing it, scrutinizing its wrinkles, and occasionally clamoring over their grandeur. Some films aren't static beings. Some are dynamic becomings. PERSONA (1966) is dynamic becoming. I'm talking about receiving an identity from a film based not on actual meanings but on believed ones. Bergman was a man of faith and his films strongly reflect that aspect of him. PERSONA (1966) is a true treasure, a complete work of art, and one of my all-time favorite films. Why? Because I have faith in it. Feel free to follow me on Twitter: / caricatureofzac I hope you subscribe to the channel for more content like this. :)
