Wide shot billboard and street STORYLINE Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov on Thursday said that Russia needed to join the euro zone and forget about trying to make the rouble a global reserve currency. The 46-year-old - recently elected to lead the Right Cause party - said merging with the euro zone would help both Russia and Europe fight ongoing economic turmoil. At a news conference in Moscow, Prokhorov also lambasted Kremlin moves to make the rouble a global reserve currency, saying it was too dependent on fluctuations in oil and gas prices. The billionaire has been involved in some of Russia''s most lucrative businesses and topped the country''s richest man list in 2009. His Right Cause party is seen as a Kremlin creation designed to lure opposition-minded, pro-business voters ahead of December''s parliamentary elections. Although the vote is months away, the party has posted hundreds of posters showing Prokhorov''s face all over the capital and in other cities in an apparent attempt to raise his profile, as well as that of his party. Not all Muscovites seemed that impressed, with some not even noticing the posters in a city awash with adverts for all kinds of products. However, some regional authorities in the provinces have ordered the removal of the Prokhorov posters, saying they violated election rules.
