The only predictable thing about weather in Chicago is that it's absolutely unpredictable. I initially got the #Nike #PegasusShield a couple weeks ago, but I didn't really think I'd get a chance to test them out for another couple weeks. But as temperatures have suddenly dropped here, it became time to take them out for some test runs. This year's Pegasus 35 Shield is a complete revamp compared to last year's Pegasus 34 Shield. The midsole, while the same as the Pegasus 35, is improved. And even compared to the 35 from just a couple months ago, the Shield has some very notable changes. The lacing system is a kind of quick pull system. The upper is made of neoprene and other water resistant materials, with rubber covering any seams. And the outsole eschews the signature pentagon lugs for triangular lugs that are closely packed but also taller than last year's Shield version. So far, running in the Pegasus 35 Shield is like running in any Pegasus. it's like meeting up with an old friend again. That same comfort and snugness is there, with the ability to move quickly as well. Running through puddles and rain has been no problem (not that that kind of thing usually bothers me), with my feet staying dry and with traction feeling secure.
