Tom Rush Raises Concerns about SBTS

Some years ago, Southern Baptist conservatives fought and won the battle for the Bible in what was known as the Conservative Resurgence. The battle for truth never ends and we are still living in critical times for the church. As a Christian, and in particular as a Southern Baptist, you should be informed as to what your church and pastor actually believe regarding the Bible and current cultural trends. As a Southern Baptist pastor for over 38 years, and as a life long Southern Baptist, I am very concerned about the direction some of our SBC entities and leaders seem to be headed. I have produced a video, with help, to express my concerns. I would ask you, particularly if you are a Southern Baptist, to listen carefully to the video. I am sharing my insight on some significant issues that I believe are at the least problematic in our current denominational situation. As God leads, I would ask you to share the video on your social media outlets and via email with Southern Baptist pastors. Primarily I am exposing problems that I have become aware of while serving as a trustee of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Our flagship seminary is doing much that is good and right. But there are issues of concern that I have attempted to address through normal trustee processes that have not been resolved successfully. In consequence of that I am making my concerns public so that you may be encouraged to do some research for yourself. If we want to maintain our God-given blessings, which have allowed us to have the greatest potential for the spread of the Gospel worldwide, then we must be informed and involved in the denomination’s processes. I am not advocating anyone depart from the SBC, rather I am advocating that you get informed and then involved. Make your plans now to attend the SBC in Nashville next June.
