HMS Montagu was a five-year old 14,000 ton battleship that stranded in shallow water off Shutter Point, Lundy Island, without loss of life, on 30 May 1906. The Montagu is the only survivor of six Duncan class pre-Dreadnought battleships of the Royal Navy within north European waters. In December 2022 Historic England put out a call for proposals to celebrate 50 years of the Protection of Wrecks Act. MSDS Marine were commissioned to undertake a project to bring maritime archaeology to inland, landlocked, audiences. As part of the project a 360° camera was loaned to licensee teams to gather footage of the protected wreck sites to use on a Oculus Go headset at public events. This footage was collected by Scott Thomson and the ‪@nautarchsoc‬ in June 2023.
