Media Briefing: Officer-Involved Shooting at 5829 Hartwick I Houston Police

HPD Chief Yasar Bashir provides an update on an officer-involved shooting at 5829 Hartwick. Preliminary information: At approximately 8:00am on Sunday, October 5th, HPD officers received a call that a person was shooting a rifle in the street near the above address. Three officers responded to the scene and located the suspect, a 29-year old Hispanic male. Officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon and show his hands. The suspect refused. Two officers fired their duty weapons, striking the suspect. Officers rendered aid. HFD arrived and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene. An AR-15 rifle was recovered at the scene.
