Tomatoes cooked in a special rasam powder that is made specially for this (recipe in the video). With flavour from the rasam powder combined with tomatoes, tang from the tamarind and sweetness from the sugar, this rasam is a killer. Ingredients & recipe mentioned down below (in english) Ingredients: Tomatoes - 250 gms Tamarind - small gooseberry size Water - 1 lt ( split 250 ml + 750 ml) Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Salt To grind to a powder: Coriander seeds - 1.5 tbsp Whole black pepper - 10 nos Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 tsp Toor dhal - 1 tsp Red chillies - 3 Tempering: Ghee / clarified butter - 2 tsp Mustard seeds - 1 tsp Curry leaves - 1 sprig Method: 1. Pressure cook tomatoes with tamarind in 250 ml of water for 3 whistles. Alternatively, you can boil this too. 2. Once pressure releases, grind to a puree and strain the skin of the tomatoes/ fibre of the tamarind using a sieve. 3. Grind ingredients mentioned under 'grind to a powder' to a fine powder. 4. In a vessel, boil the pureed tomato juice with some salt and turmeric powder. 5. Once this boils, add the ground powder and mix well. Let this come to a boil. 6. Heat ghee in a separate wok and temper with mustard seeds , curry leaves and pour over the boiling rasam. 7. Serve hot as a soup/appetiser or pour over hot rice mixed with ghee.
