A thyroglossal fistula typically presents as a discharging orifice in the midline of the neck, following the path of thyroid descent. Although it is not congenital, it can develop after an infection or incomplete removal of a thyroglossal cyst. The fistulous opening is usually located near the midline of the neck. In more technical terms, a thyroglossal duct fistula extends from the midline infrahyoid region, coursing along the anterior surface of the hyoid bone, and can be seen extending up to the foramen cecum of the tongue. The tract measures approximately 4.0 cm in length and 1.9 mm in diameter. Additionally, there may be a blind-ending secondary oblique ramification of the tract within the tongue. #Thyroglossalfistula
