This latest Kona Storm continues to impact the islands, with Oahu under extended alerts as heavy rain and thunderstorms remain possible through Sunday. Officially, the islands are forecasted with the following weather alerts: Flash Flood Warning for Oahu until 2pm and Flood Watch for all other islands through Sunday Afternoon. We have been lifted from the Flood Advisory for Molokai as of 12 p.m. noon today. Meteorologist Robert Ballard warns that while conditions may gradually improve by Sunday, more heavy showers could redevelop at any time in the meantime. With already saturated ground, even moderate rainfall could quickly lead to flash flooding. Some areas saw up to a foot of rain overnight, worsening impacts. Although winds are expected to be weaker than the last storm, localized gusts could still bring down trees due to the soaked soil. Ballard says all areas of Oahu should stay on alert, as the flood threat remains high. The system is expected to weaken and shift southeast by late Sunday into Monday, bringing improving conditions. Residents are urged to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions as the kona storm continues to evolve.
