The New Caledonia Bridge is a fictional double-track bridge opened in 1899 by the Caledonian Railway in United Kingdom. There is also a single track was added on the switching points near the bridge on the main line. The London and North Western Railway shares the track as well. In 1898, workmen started construct a new bridge for the Caledonian Railway and the London and North Western Railway to run over it near the waterfall. Until 1899, it was opened and the first train to run over the bridge is Caledonian Class 66 No.75. In 1942 during World War II, LMS (Ex-Caledonian) Dunalastair IV No.13462 double-heading with Ex-Highland Castle No.14682 Beaufort Castle running towards Loch Gare, until they made an accident at the bridge. No.13462 was fallen into the waterfall except for it’s tender and the rest of the train where they stayed. Later after that, No.13462 was turned into a ghost. In 1949, the bridge was turned 50 years old. In the midnight of 1980, LMS No.14682 was pulling an empty tourist train on the New Caledonia Bridge where it was spotted 13462’s ghost. 14682 defeats the ghost later shortly, until 13462’s ghost was fully disappeared and never come back again. In late 1985, the bridge was closed temporarily for rebuilding the single track into the double track near it. The main line was also electrified. This was preventing from delaying trains and also preventing from crashing other trains. In early 1986, it was reopened and allow high speed trains and electric trains to run over the bridge across the newly laid double track. In 1999, the bridge was turned 100 years old. Nowadays, the New Caledonia Bridge was still in use by the Modern British Rail Network. The New Caledonia Bridge will be 150 years old by 2049. More videos coming soon!
