Faith, dedication, and love for church music. In this special interview with Radio Ngjallja, we meet Mr. Lazi Danga, Choir Director at St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church in Worcester, Massachusetts. Lazi studied Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute, earning his Master of Science degree. In his professional life he works as a chemical engineer, but his passion and dedication for the Church have led him to serve faithfully through sacred music. The son of Albanian immigrants from Korça, Ilia and Bisilda, who came to the United States after the fall of the communist regime, Lazi grew up with a deep appreciation for faith, heritage, and community. Today he leads the church choir at St. Mary’s, which currently includes 12 dedicated members. With great enthusiasm and commitment, Lazi works to strengthen the choir and preserve the beautiful tradition of Orthodox church music. His vision for the future is inspiring. He dreams of building a choir of 32 voices—people of different ages united in faith and worship. He also hopes to see the church community continue to grow with more clergy serving the faithful. Despite the demands of his professional career, Lazi remains devoted to his church and encourages young people to become involved, especially through music and service.
