1980 West Town Gang Graffiti Special focusing on Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, and Logan Square area and their clubs, specifically interviews with the Warlords of Damen & Evergreen, and GBO’s (Ghetto Brothers Organization) of Armitage & Humboldt. In order to understand all sides of the story, the local property owners also get interviewed. Towards the end of the clip you will see Ed Maldonado talking about the 1974 “Migration Of A People” Mural, near Claremont & Le Moyne. The mural, which chronicles the plight of Puerto Rican migrants, was painted on the wall of the Puerto Rican Bilingual Bicultural Center (former St. Aloysius School, now Monsignor Thiele Center of St. Aloysius Parish), 1520 N Claremont. Notice how before Mayor Daley’s Graffiti Blaster Program got implemented in the early 1990’s, the entire city had tags on every corner building and vacant lot.
