We headed out to do Ellis Track, near Wesburn, in Victoria. It's rated as one of Vic's hardest tracks, and now we know why. We started out at 9.15am and got to the top at 5.45pm. One track less than 10km in length. Needless to say the track was wet and it was raining at the start of the day, but stopped about 1/2 through, but the damage had already been done, and the track was slippery to say the least. We had 7 FJ40's heading out for the trip. Damage tally was one car broke both CV's, another car had battery/alternator problems, one car broke its gearbox, one car blew the solenoid on the winch after 5 seconds of winching, and I think that's all I can remember. Two cars bravely fought all the way to the top of the proper track, while a few used the chicken track and a few turned around and went back down with the car with the broken CV's. They got to the bottom after the cars that continued up the track. I had a funny noise in my car, and then I had issues in trying to get reverse as I think there was a clutch fluid issue and the hose was swelling up and not allowing the clutch to work correctly. It was my cars first outing with the LS1 engine, as I replaced the 350 Chev that was in there. I was impressed with the engine and how it performed. Because the group got split up, the number of cars on the video was a bit low, as I had my camera in my car and another car had my other camera, but they were a bit busy so the footage was reduced. I had to use my winch for the first time and had to slingshot it past the orange car, then pull myself up on his car at the parts where we had to winch. We have our annual weekend planned for late August, where we hope to get about 12+ 40 series Landcruisers there, plus a few others that tag along. Hope you enjoy viewing.
