CSX Coal Train Derailment Along the James River in Richmond, Virginia

On July 23, 2021, CSX train T20622 (Thurmond, WV to Newport News, VA) derailed on CSX's Rivanna Subdivision (Richmond, VA to Gladstone, VA) around milepost 1 at DX Cabin, adjacent to Hollywood Cemetery, at approximately 13:26. While the cause is unclear, there was a broken rail found on the tracks near where the derailed cars start. After the last derailment here (less than two months ago) they either put the old rail back or it was a bad weld where the broken rail was. The wreck caused around 15 cars to come off of the tracks. Because the coal cars fell to the south on track one, track two is also out of service until this is cleaned up. Getting the cars back on the tracks is only one part of the derailment service that Cranemaster/Genesis Derailment Division has to accomplish, they also have to repair the track that was destroyed when the coal cars fell.
