Audio Tactile Button

At iMSL, we have developed a multi-functional button, which is able to sense a user’s touch, and respond with a combined tactile and acoustic feedback. The core active element of the button is a lightweight dielectric elastomer membrane. Our post-doc Giacomo explains in the video how the Audio Tactile Button works and how it can be used.  In the future, this principle could be used in multisensory aids for the visually impaired, in intelligent fittings for car interiors or in applications for games and virtual realities.
