Today we're taking you to Kawasaki's Kanamara Matsuri, also known as the Festival of the Steel Phallus. Originally beginning in 1969, the Kanamara Matsuri is centered around the nearby Kanayama Shrine. Home to a god and goddess of blacksmithing and metal works, visitors to Kanayama Shrine also pray to these same gods for safe childbirth, good relationships and sexual health.
