Listen free: https://open.spotify.com/album/02E69E... --- Jakub Lokaj [Lokay] (Cítoliby, 7 July 1752 - after 1793) Bohemian composer. He was born in Cítoliby as the son of a local wheelwright. His mother Anna came from the Křivánek family from nearby Markvarec. His godfather was the Cytolibian cantor and composer Václav Jan Kopřiva (1708-1789). His early life and formation is unknown but he probably received musical lessons from Václav Jan Kopřiva. Once his studies finished, he applied for a post at the Cítoliby castle. There, he gradually held the positions of servant, kitchen clerk, court master and finally director of music. As a composer, he wrote mainly sacred music, at least 5 masses, motets, arias among others. He also wrote a Bassoon concerto in C and secular vocal works. After 1793 his life is unknown.
