In this new series, we dig way beyond surface-level research and focus our attention on a singular subject/topic to give Penn State fans a deeper understanding of various narratives and nuances about the Nittany Lions football team, their opponents, or just the state of college football, in general. In this episode, FTB analyst Cam Blackburn pinpoints and dissects a seismic mid-season shift in Andy Kotelnicki's offensive philosophy -- the uncharacteristic use of hurry-up tempo. Traditionally the director of one of the slowest pace of play attacks in all of college football, Penn State rose more than 40 spots in 'Pace of Play' in Games 9-16 of 2024-25. The quicker pace paid off statistically, as the Nittany Lions' average yards per play, explosivity rate, and touchdown percentage inflated substantially when they snapped the ball with more than 25 seconds remaining on the play clock. http://www.fortheblogy.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Be sure to join our 2025 FTB DONORS CLUB – the best way for you to show your support and keep this train rolling.
