I'm so glad I found ‪@LouiseJannetta‬ on Youtube! Her techniques are inventive and intuitive, and I have found lots of inspiration from her channel. You can find her here:    / @louisejannetta   For this botanical print, I went on a walk and found some interesting grass seed heads and leaves, pressed them under some heavy boards to flatten them out, and then placed them strategically on the damp surface of my canvas. I used heavily diluted paints in squirt bottles to apply colors around and over my botanical cuttings, and then covered the entire canvas with the shrink wrap that the canvas comes with. I knew from previous experience that these diluted paints will dry much lighter than they initially appear, so it was no surprise that I needed to repeat the spray and cover process several times. I stopped once I got a dry color intensity that I liked, which is a soft, almost watercolor feel. The faux texture that the plastic wrap creates makes the negative space much more interesting, and I'm really happy that I used the QNAG to loosely brush in some highlights and details of the grasses to add warmth. I learned a lot from this process and I can't wait to try it again!
