Have you ever been told you’re “not fluent yet” because you pause… or because you don’t sound like a native speaker? 😅 If that comment hits a nerve, you’re not alone. And I have a (very) controversial opinion about “fluent English.” In this video, I’m sharing what I honestly believe fluency is — and what it isn’t. After teaching adults for years, I’ve seen how the word “fluent” can motivate you… but it can also create pressure, perfectionism, and that frustrating feeling of getting stuck in your head. Here’s the truth: many people who “understand everything” still feel blocked when they try to speak. They translate, they overthink, they worry about mistakes, and suddenly their mind goes blank. If that’s you, this video is for you. We’ll talk about: Why “perfect grammar” is not the same as fluent speaking The real reason you hesitate (and why it doesn’t mean you’re failing) What fluent English sounds like in real life (spoiler: it’s not flawless) A healthier goal that helps you speak more naturally and confidently ✅ How to stop measuring yourself against an impossible standard My goal is to help you feel calmer when you speak — even if you make mistakes, even if you search for words, even if your accent shows. That’s normal. Real communication includes hesitations, repairs, and “umm…” moments. Fluent speakers do those things too. If you’ve been chasing “fluency” and feeling like it’s always one step away, I hope this video gives you a new perspective — one that makes speaking feel lighter and more doable. If it helps, please give the video a like (it really supports my channel) 👍 And I’d love to hear from you in the comments: What does “fluent English” mean to you right now? Are you aiming for accuracy, speed, confidence… or something else? Be kind to yourself this week. Your English is already more real than you think. 💛 #englishspeaking #speakenglishfluently #englishfluency #confidentspeaking #englishmindset #englishconversation #englishpractice #learnenglishspeaking #adultenglishlearners #englishconfidence #fearofspeakingenglish #stoptranslating #speaknaturally #englishcommunication #pronunciationconfidence
