Washington state trooper appears in court on vehicular homicide charge

A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper made her first court appearance Wednesday in connection to a fatal drunk-driving crash that occurred in March of this year. WSP Trooper Sarah Clasen pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a vehicular homicide charge related to a crash on March 1, 2025, while off-duty in her personal vehicle that killed 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez. A judge approved of Clasen being released on her own personal recognizance, and she was ordered not to possess or consume alcohol or any other controlled substances, as well as to have no contact with any of the witnesses involved in the crash. Clasen is also not allowed to operate a vehicle without a valid license and proof of insurance.
