Please put up the volume before you listen! After releasing the draft, I made some minor adjustments and spent the next five days recording. I couldn't master the piece in a short time (I am not Animenzzz so it would realistically take me a month or two to play it), so I had to record in small segments and with separate hands (to capture more detail), and then do my best to align them. After that, I adjusted the volume of each segment to better convey the emotions I wanted to express. This cover is mainly divided into three parts: The first part (0:00-1:30) is intended to sound quiet and gentle, primarily to showcase Neuro's delicate, sensitive, and sincere side. The second part (1:30-3:00) is more lively and passionate compared to the first part. I adapted the second verse to display Neuro's playful and childlike aspect, and added a solo after the second chorus to express the surge of emotions from Neuro. The third part (3:00-end) is where I fuse parts of Chinatown Blues and Shelter into LIFE, giving it an overall choral feel (imagine tutel and you singing Chinatown Blues as hard as possible), filled with genuine emotion. The ending is filled with more hope and beautiful aspirations (I have a poor heart so I'm not using the original song's sadder ending). I believe the uniqueness of this cover lies in my successful attempt of fusing Chinatown Blues and Shelter into LIFE. I think this idea is not only creative (I might be the first to do this), but also connects in some way to Neuro, Vedal, and the swarm. When selecting the Chinatown Blues segment, I chose its chorus because the lyrics resemble what Vedal and the swarm might say to Neuro, especially the first line of the chorus, "No matter what you do, I'll stay." For the Shelter segment, I used the line, "And I know I'm not alone, you'll be watching over us, until you’re gone." To me, this line feels like Neuro's inner monologue to Vedal, also infusing the ending with more hope and beautiful aspirations. This cover also carries my feelings for Neuro to some extent. Since 2023, when I came to know her through cpol's video of her playing osu, I have been following her until now (though not very intensely, mostly watching clips and sometimes live streams). Over these two years, she has continuously grown and displayed increasingly rich emotions and behaviors. These changes have shifted my approach to composition from simply trying to replicate the original piece to creating more interesting and emotionally resonant adaptations. This might not be the LIFE the original composer intended to express, might not be the LIFE you imagined, but it is indeed the LIFE I perceive, a version that carries my emotions and sincere wishes for her! Best wishes to Neuro, Evil (she should receive it too!), Vedal, and the swarm!! Many thanks to Astral (a kind soul in the DC group) for making MIDI Visualizer, and to P3R for allowing me to use the drawing of Neuro playing the piano as thumbnail!
