'Saudi Arabia’s foremost issue': The kingdom’s stance on Palestine throughout the years

After US President Donald Trump announced his Gaza “takeover” plan, Saudi Arabia reiterated that it would only normalise relations with Israel if there was a clear pathway towards Palestinian statehood. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to this, suggesting the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia. This was picked up by a member of the Saudi Shura council, Yousef bin Trad al-Saadoun, who mockingly proposed that Trump should relocate Israelis to Alaska and later to Greenland “after annexing it”.
