Michael Reisch, the Daniel Thursz Distinguished Professor of Social Justice at the University of Maryland, responds by reflecting on the historic tension between the drive to professionalization and engagement with social and political activism in community organization that persists today, and identifies contemporary challenges to those in community practice.
