Principles of Pulmonary Resection

This is a lecture delivered to postgraduate students in thoracic surgery on March 13, 2021 via Zoom. Resection of part of the lung such as a lobe or segment or the whole lung is a technique that should be mastered by every thoracic surgeon due to the wide range of its indications. Safe performance of pulmonary resection requires a perfect knowledge of lung hilum anatomy and optimum dissection skills. This lecture covers the history of the procedure, indications, types, preoperative evaluation besides anesthetic and surgical techniques employed in lung resection.
