U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, Ms Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, talks about the importance of the relationship between the Ohio Army National Guard and Hungarian Defense Forces (HDF) soldiers during the Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT) training located in Dóc, Hungary on 11 April 2011. For this OMLT, the HDF are the lead force with the 12 Army National Guard and Reserve soldiers, representing many different communities from Ohio, providing combat medics, engineers and Joint Fires Observers expertise. Ohio soldiers have been partnered with the Hungarian forces since 1993 and this represents the sixth OMLT that these forces have trained for. The OMLT, (pronounced "omelette"), is a multidisciplinary group of experienced Soldiers that train for a mission where they are embedded with the Afghan National Army (ANA) to provide training, mentorship and liaison services.
