Part of 'Victims of Circumstance', an investigation into the impact of three-year residency, an eligibility requirement of the UK's Student Loans Company, on citizens who need a loan for Higher Education, but who have also lived abroad at some point in their lives. The three-year residency rule dictates that citizens who have not been living in the UK for at least three years continuously before the start of a higher education course cannot get a loan for their studies, even those who were minors at the time. I spoke with Adam Thompson, MP for Erewash, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary University Group and former degree-level Engineering apprenticeship teacher, to find out his thoughts on the issue.
