Have you considered transitioning your land to regenerative agroforestry? Have you thought about planting silvopasture trees to provide shade, fodder, fruit, and nuts to livestock. Have you dreamed of picking fruit in your own food forest? Contour Lines USA provides trees and technical assistance at no cost to landowners in exchange for them implementing soil conservation practices such as: Planting Trees on Contour Mulching Trees Cover Cropping disturbed soils Not using chemical herbicides or pesticides Contour Lines is looking for applicants who are willing to excavate their own site with some guidance, plant and mulch their trees, and maintain the trees through annual pruning. Together these practices deliver a high survival rate of seedling and fast growth with minimal expenses of money and labor. How it works Apply for a Contour Lines Tree Planting Grant at www.contourlines.org/USA, and encourage other local landowners to apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and our team focuses on regions with many applications. Once your application is accepted a technician will schedule a work day. When the technician arrives we get straight to work. The technician will teach the landowner how to mark contour lines. After marking the lines the technician will show the landowner our technique for building berms and swales with a mini excavator that is provided by the landowner. Once the landowner successfully prepares their site they are able to pick from our list of dozens of tree species. Most participants plant 500-1000 trees the first year with only a couple of days of work. If you want to plant trees with Contour Lines apply at www.contourlines.org/USA.
