Yannis’ work focuses on the accurate and authentic portrayal of the African continent, something that has long been controlled almost exclusively by traditional Western media. In his talk, he will explore the role of media in society and the impact of the Internet on our perception of African culture, as well as how the Internet has shifted the control of media into the hands of the perceived. Yannis is a self-taught photographer from Gabon, and recent graduate from the Communication, Culture, Information & Technology program at the University of Toronto.
