CataractCoach 1046: fixing anterior capsule fibrosis to facilitate the capsulorhexis

Our usual way of dealing with fibrosis of the anterior lens capsule is to use a sharp instrument such as micro-scissors to help cut through the scarring. We have shown these techniques before here and here and even more times here. But maybe there is a better way? This video is from Dr. Val Apostolov from Amsterdam, NL and he shows us an innovative technique. He makes a small capsular opening and then goes under the anterior lens capsule to separate the fibrotic tissue from the capsule. This then allows creation of a normal capsulorhexis and then subsequent removal of the fibrotic tissue prior to phacoemulsification. This is ingenious and I am eager to try it in the future.
