Lake Mckenzie Australia is the best all natural lake on the totally sand island oasis. Getting here is easy from either side of the island. Lake Mckenzie Boorangoora is only accessible by 4WD vehicle from Eurong Beach (16km) or Kingfisher Bay resort around 10km. The tracks are all sand and can be soft and a little rough but well worth the drive. If you would like to stay nearby the famous lake I would stay at the Lake Mckenzie camping area which is could central station. Once you are at lake Mckenzie Fraser Island you will have to find a carpark. It can get busy but the crowds move on pretty fast. There are toilets at Mckenzie and a fenced off picnic area to stop dingo's eating food. Watch out for dingoes at all times and stay near your young ones. No food or drink is allowed on Lake Mckenzie Beach, so don't take anything down or expect a fine. The water is devine and almost feels like you are at a man made pool. It is really that clear and fresh. The sand is white as white and the water is as clear as it gets in the world. There is a steep drop off that goes to around 9 meters deep just off shore, so watch your young ones. We loved it here and never really wanted to leave but all good things come to an end. We spent around 2-3 hours here which was ample to really experience the magical place. Definitely put Lake Mckenzie day trip on your Fraser Island plan. Get out there.
