During a press conference on May 8, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh gave an update on the situation following the violent incident that occurred on May 3. The chief minister revealed that around 20,000 stranded individuals have been evacuated so far, but almost 10,000 people still remain stranded. Singh also mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been closely monitoring the situation since the incident took place and has sent several companies of Central forces to the area. Singh urged the public to remain calm and assured that all the stranded individuals are being provided with the best possible care and support in safe locations and shelter camps. The violent incident reportedly led to the loss of 60 innocent lives, with 231 people sustaining injuries and nearly 1,700 houses being burned down. The chief minister's comments come as the state struggles to contain the violence and provide assistance to those affected by it. The Indian government has also been providing support to the state government in its efforts to restore peace and provide aid to those affected by the incident. As the situation in Manipur remains tense, the government and local authorities are working to ensure the safety and well-being of all those impacted by the violence.
