Part 1 of the German Language Course For Beginners. Introduction: Deutsch Direkt was first broadcast by the BBC Learning Zone in the mid 1980's. It was recorded before the reunification of Germany and before the introduction of the Euro. The course book is still available to buy online and it was comments from reviews of the book which prompted me to post this series of videos. e.g. 'I wish I could find a copy of the programmes. I looked on YouTube, but they're not there'. On this basis, I hope they will prove to be a useful learning resource for individuals and classes. The programmes have all been digitised from original VCR recordings made by myself, so please excuse me if the quality isn't 100%. They were played many times over when I was learning to speak German myself. There are twenty lessons of approximately twenty-five minutes each and I hope you enjoy them all.
