Well I think this is the best mic placement of the RE20 so far. Instead of backed it up more away from the Ampeg cab, I've moved it closer and placed the mic where it is aimed at the baffle instead of a specific speaker cone. I feel like this has unclogged the left side of the stereo field. The only issue remaining is getting the levels correct so that the left side is not peaking and the right side is present but not overpowering the sound. I have enjoyed using this quasi scientific method of coming up with a hypothesis, testing it, and then reviewing the results, but I am also excited to get back to having a workable setup so I don't have to worry if I am missing out on capturing good performances! My record "Thank You, Guitar," has been repressed by the label! You can grab a copy of the LP (with the locked groove at the end of side 1 so the song "Infinite Shred" is truly infinite!) here: https://cyruspireh.bandcamp.com/album... ---------------------- Please consider buying a Thank You, Guitar pedal made by me! https://4gre.org/pedal/ Also made by me, the 4GRE Amp: https://4gre.org/amp/ If you really enjoy ESQUIRE content, you're welcome to support me and my channel with a small donation via PayPal: https://paypal.me/cyruspireh ---------------------- I'm playing the 9-String Esquire into a Boss DD5 into a 9V adapter powered Thank You, Guitar pedal into the Ampeg 810. Left channel audio is coming from the 810 mic'd with the EV RE20 and the right channel audio is the output of the Thank You, Guitar pedal into a JDI direct box into a hardware limiter into the camera. Thank you so much for accompanying me on my daily practice for 01/24/2026.
