Tatiana Schlossberg died on December 30, 2025, at the age of thirty-five, after eighteen months of treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. Her death came while her two children were still too young to understand what had happened. Edwin was only three. Josephine was not yet two. They did not know what it meant to lose a mother, but they would live with the consequences of that loss. She was the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy. The daughter of Caroline Kennedy. A journalist who had written for The New York Times. The author of Inconspicuous Consumption. But none of those titles mattered on the morning her family posted a single sentence on the JFK Library’s page: “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning.” There was no explanation. No preparation. Only a fact that could not be undone. The funeral was held on January 5, 2026, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York. By then, Tatiana was already silent. But before her body stopped, she spoke one last time. Not in words meant to be spoken aloud, but in writing. In an essay published in The New Yorker, Tatiana wrote knowing she had a terminal diagnosis. She did not write to say goodbye. She wrote because her memories were beginning to move too quickly to hold.
