Songs of Wisdom - Temple Prayer | Official Lyric Video About the Song This song was inspired by Andrew Murray’s Humility (especially Chapter 7) and the parable of the Pharisee and the publican (Luke 18:9–14). It reflects the reality that both the Pharisee and the publican live within us—and that we daily need the Lord’s help to fix our eyes on Him. Only when our gaze is set on Christ can pride be surrendered and true humility begin to grow. Lyrics: Verse 1 Two men knelt to speak Thy name, But only one went home changed. And still I feel them war inside— The one who boasts, the one who cries. The Pharisee lives in my prayer, The publican is trembling there. Chorus Let Christ be formed in me, O God, Not praise of self, not works, not fraud. With nothing but Thy grace in hand, And brokenness that understands. For only when I’m bowed and low, Thy holiness begins to grow. Let Christ be formed in me. Verse 2 The proud will thank Thee for their gain, And walk away unchanged, the same. But Thou drawest near to hearts that fall, Who know they have no strength at all. So shine Thy light on hidden pride, And teach me, Lord, to walk in stride. Chorus Let Christ be formed in me, O God, Not praise of self, not works, not fraud. With nothing but Thy grace in hand, And brokenness that understands. For only when I’m bowed and low, Thy holiness begins to grow. Let Christ be formed in me. Bridge Not just once, but every day, I must turn and humbly pray: “Lord, I’m blind, but Thou canst see The hidden pride inside of me. Let mine eyes be fixed on Thee, Till self fades out and grace flows free.” Final Chorus Let Christ be formed in me, O God, No mask of good, no veil, no nod. But honest love that looks like Thee, The lowly path, the Spirit’s plea. For when I’m least and Thou art all, Then I shall rise and will not fall. Let Christ be formed in me... Let Christ be all they see. Lyrics and music by Songs of Wisdom Production: gk-studio © 2025 gk-music ℗ Amazing Grace Records Video footage from a boat trip to Geiranger fjord last Saturday.
