This video shows a patient with a monofocal intraocular lens in right eye (seen first) and toric intraocular lens in left eye (seen second) in retro-illumination. Note the aligning marks (three dots on the toric lens). The lens used iin the left eye is an Alcon Toric intraocular lens. This lens will reduce or completely correct corneal astigmatism and give the patient better vision without glasses in most cases. Of interest approximately 1/3 of the population have greater than 1 diopter of astigmatism. When implanting premium intraocular lenses, it is critical for the surgeon to explain the risks, benefits and alternatives of all available intraocular lenses, to best fit the intraocular lens with the patients' needs. Preoperative discussion and planning is critical.
