Jazz in the Yard: The Elliott Lewis Trio

In the third of our online jazz broadcasts, we are joined by Elliott Lewis, a band leader and guitarist who features as a soloist in two outstanding groups: Swing Gitan UK and the Swing Zippers. His musical influences are primarily gypsy jazz due to his formative experiences of playing the music of Django Reinhardt. This style holds an integral part of his playing today but now embraces inspiration from a wide array of jazz artists, including Wes Montgomery, Roy Ayers, Chick Corea and Charlie Parker. This performance will display a diverse range of material from Elliott's deep and engrossing reportiore: tastes and influences from gypsy jazz, bebop, Latin, cool jazz and even pop. Elliott is joined by bassist Simon Paterson of Nottingham University & drummer Andrew Wood, a regular performer in Stamford and curator of the jazz events in the Stamford Cellar Bar.
