Today, we moved beyond simple container communication and introduced a real database layer into my Docker Compose application by adding PostgreSQL to LoggerBuddy v2. This was an important step because it shifted the project from a basic multi-container setup to a more realistic multi-service architecture where data is stored durably and survives restarts . In this video, I covered: --------------------------------------------------- why PostgreSQL was the right choice for this stage instead of Redis how to connect a Flask backend to a Postgres database how Docker Compose handles private networking and service discovery why healthchecks matter for startup readiness how to use Docker volumes for persistence how logs are written into the database and queried back through the API By the end of this build, LoggerBuddy v2 had: a frontend served with NGINX a Flask backend API a PostgreSQL database as the durable storage layer persistent storage using Docker volumes Why Follow This Series? _________________________ Real-world DevOps skills (hands-on, not just theory) Beginner-friendly explanations (even non-coders can follow) Daily uploads with scripts + breakdowns No fluff — just daily progress and real learning 🔔 Subscribe for: ____________________ Daily #100DaysOfDevOps content Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible & more Portfolio-building guidance Career-ready DevOps training for absolute beginners and career switchers Connect With Me ____________________ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/chukwuebuka-anunukem YouTube: / @techdotsam TikTok: tiktok.com/@techdotsam_ Disclaimer: Unauthorized copying, reproduction, or distribution of this video content, in whole or in part, is strictly prohibited.
