Do you have what it takes to become a Coast Guard Aviation Survival Technician/Rescue Swimmer? If you meet all the physical fitness standards displayed in the video (also listed below), you can qualify for the Coast Guard’s civilian-to-AST/Rescue Swimmer program, currently known as ANNEX-X. The following are the MINIMUM fitness requirements to qualify for the program. 1.) Push-ups - 40 within 2 minutes 2.) Sit-ups - 40 within 2-minutes 3.) Side Plank - 30 seconds 4.) Pull-ups (full extension) - 3 consecutive within 1 minute 5.) Run - 1.5 miles within 12 minutes 6.) Swim - 450 meter or 500 yard swim within 12 minutes All of the qualifiers are completed consecutively and are based on strict body positioning and exacting details, so ask your recruiter for a detailed Physical Fitness Assessment sheet. You will be tested at the start of basic training by an active duty AST. It is a pass/fail test, so bring your ‘A’ game.
