The second World Cup event of the season will mark a racing first: At the IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck, the athletes will race on the Olympia sliding track for the first time since the track was renovated and recently homologated. The combined Bobsleigh, luge and Skeleton track in the Igls district above Innsbruck was originally built for the 1976 Winter Olympic Games. Subsequent renovations have included the addition of an extra curve to the finish line area in 1981 and an extension to the finish run in 1998. Now the renovations to the lower third of the track from corner 13 onwards are complete as well. After the Labyrinth section of the track, two large curves take the route back uphill. The new finish line area and its adjoining building are located next to the Kreisel corner. Thank you for watching! Spätere Umbauten waren unter anderem eine Erweiterung im Zielbereich um eine zusätzlich Kurve im Jahr 1981 und die Verlängerung des Zielauslaufs 1998. Nun ist der Umbau des unteren Drittels der Bahn ab Kurve 13 fertiggestellt. Zwei große Kurven führen die Strecke nach dem Labyrinth nun wieder bergauf. Der neue Zielbereich mit Zielhaus liegt neben dem Kreisel.
