President Donald Trump says the U.S. Navy plans to build “Trump Class” battleships which will become the centerpiece of Trump's vision for a new “Golden Fleet." Trump made the announcement from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other officials. For years, the president has advocated for a revamping America’s fleet of warships, saying the current ships are old, obsolete, unattractive and rusty. This news comes nearly a month after the Navy canceled an order of frigates that were to have been built at Fincantieri Marinette Marine.
