Hi, I'm Dr. Kat and I am the Clinic Director of Bright Pine Behavioral Health. Our wonderful clinicians provide psychological testing and therapy services to children, teens, and adults in the Metro-Detroit area. We offer diagnostic neuropsychological testing services for ADHD, Autism, Academic Issues, Giftedness, Pre-surgical assessments, and more! Thank you for taking the time to view our video. We truly appreciate it! What is psychological testing? Psychological testing consists of applying a series of scientifically developed protocols that are designed to assess various aspects of a person’s psychological functioning. The main goal of assessment is to better understand that person and accurately diagnose the root causes of any potential visible or hidden issues with cognition, emotional reactivity, behavior, memory, and more. Keep in mind that psychological testing is always administered by clinicians with extensive training and expertise. These professionals have advanced training and are highly specialized. What to expect during the psychological testing process? Psychological assessments are typically completed within 3 appointments. The first appointment is called an intake. The clinician will meet with the client for 60 minutes to gather background information. The second appointment is the in-person testing. Full psychological assessments are typically 4-7 hours long with regularly scheduled breaks and a lunch period. Partial assessments are 3-5 hours long. Once the testing is completed, the clinician will score, analyze, and interpret the data and compile it in a comprehensive diagnostic report along with their diagnosis and recommendations for treatment. This report is released to the client 4-6 weeks after the testing appointment and once the client’s account is settled in full. At this time, the clinician will schedule the 3rd and final appointment to go over their findings as well as answer the client’s questions and concerns. The total involved clinician time for a full psychological evaluation is typically 12-15 hours. How much does a full psychological evaluation cost? Costs will vary between insurance carriers and are subject to the Client’s individual plan as well as their contracted rates. Furthermore, as service providers, we make absolutely no claim or guarantee of payment by a client’s insurance carrier. Therefore, by choosing to move forward, service providers expect a personal financial commitment for all services rendered in any event of claim denial or non-payment by your carrier. What’s a typical time frame for a psychological evaluation? Most sought-after clinicians are scheduling 2-3 months out and diagnostic reports are provided within 4-6 weeks of the testing date. Those clients with time-sensitive needs may be eligible for our unique expedited testing services. Expedited testing is a private pay-only service with limited appointment availability with diagnostic reports produced within 3 business days of the testing appointment. If you're in Michigan.
