The Beara Breifne Way is the longest way marked trail in Ireland winding its way from Castletownbere in West Cork to Blacklion in Co. Cavan. It is approximately 700km long and in late April 2025 I began hiking it. The route uses some of the existing walking ways in in Ireland and traces the route taken by O’Sullivan Bere on his epic march in the winter of 1603. I have broken my route up into 4 videos and I’ll upload the others over the coming weeks. This route also connects with the Ulster Way and together form what is known as the Ireland Way. I will be heading back up later in the year to tackle the remaining 300km and complete the full Ireland Way route. For this video I’ve also added a narration, something I don’t usually do. It just felt that a walk like this needed something other than the video. This first video takes in the route from Castletownbere to Liscarroll. This covers the Beara Way, the Slí Gaeltacht Mhuscraí and the North West Cork Way.
