Yesterday I was on the coast in Lima. Today I’m hiking in the Andes. Welcome to Episode 32 of Music in Motion, my hybrid travel/music/healing series as i travel through south america solo with no plan. After catching the night bus to Huaraz, I decide to “acclimatise” with what was meant to be a small hike. Instead, I quickly realise I’ve underestimated what going from sea level to 4,480m does to your body. This episode captures what altitude sickness actually feels like — the breathlessness, the ego hit, the strange vulnerability of not feeling like yourself. Thankfully, I meet a group of absolute legends at the hostel who carry the energy when I can’t. Later, sitting on the bus post-hike with a pounding head, I have a quiet reality check about privilege. The difference between choosing discomfort for adventure… and living it daily. This is Huaraz, Peru — hiking culture, hostel chaos, acclimatisation mistakes, and what it means to travel consciously. Part of my South America solo travel documentary series blending music, travel, identity, and growth.
