YAY!!!! In December of 2022 we took went to Ameilia Island, Florida to shore up our sailing knowledge and skills by taking our ASA (American Sailing Association) 103 & 104 courses. These courses gave us the requisite knowledge and certifications for us to be able to bareboat charter just about any sailboat in a commercial charter fleet. However, since we now have a catamaran, our certifications and lack of practical knowledge needed some assistance. So we welcomed our instructor from our ASA 103/104 course aboard Plot Twist to help get us up to speed on catamaran operations and the basics of what we need to make sure we are operating safely! Captain Bill is a fantastic teacher. Patient, informative and keeps his cool even when things are going sideways. The conssomate professional captain. We love Captain Bill!!! After completing our ASA 114 course (thats the catamaran certification) Paige's younger sister, Candice, flew down for a visit. And what better way to welcome someone who hasn't ever been on a sailboat before than to take her out sailing! We threw off the lines and headed out for a wonderful day sail in some increasingly stronger winds, but all went well. We learned that our auto-pilot, while capable of maintaining course, isn't the best when asking to tack or come about! We had some struggles learning all the intricacies of how a catamaran performs vs. a monohull and have come out humbly confident in our abilities to take ourselves and Plot Twist south on our longest passage yet!
