On this ride I head out across one of The Houtribdijk is a 26 km long dam in the middle of the IJsselmeer region, between Lelystad and Enkhuizen. With sea on both sides and endless sky above, it’s a unique stretch of road for any motorcyclist. But this ride also takes me to a much more solemn place. Hidden among the quiet Dutch sand dunes are sites where members of the Dutch resistance were executed during World War II. Riding through these landscapes is a reminder that the peaceful roads we enjoy today carry a deep and often tragic history. This episode of Scottish Biker Abroad mixes open roads, coastal scenery, and a moment to reflect on the past. 🏍 Route highlights: Crossing the legendary Afsluitdijk Riding through the Dutch coastal dunes Visiting WWII resistance memorial sites If you enjoy motorcycle travel, history, and discovering the stories behind the roads, join me for the ride. 📍 Filmed in the Netherlands 🏍 Bike: Triumph Tiger 900 GT PRO
