Beauty in Seasons is a poetic journey of the soul: from the coming-of-age ritual of a Yi (ethnic group) girl in the first spring rain deep in the mountains of Yunnan, to the graceful silhouette of a Dai (ethnic group) girl by the golden waters of Xishuangbanna; from the joyful harvest of grapes at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, to the lively rhythms of Tibetan dance on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau; and finally, in the drifting winter snow, the peacock rises anew, elegant and pure, an echo of nature’s resilience. Beauty in Seasons is an ode to life and a tribute to the diverse cultural artistry of Chinese ethnic groups. Chinese-Canadian dance artist Haiyan Lu, a cultural inheritor from the Axi ethnic group in Mile, Yunnan, together with her talented students, has dedicated four years to prepare for this great showcase.
