The Reportify – Nationwide, Afghanistan Date of Publication: 4 Dalwa 1404 (Solar Hijri) – 24 January 2026 (Gregorian) In this report, you’ll read: 1️⃣ Nationwide impact of heavy snowfall and emergency response operations 2️⃣ Road clearance updates from Panjshir and Parwan provinces 3️⃣ Large-scale rescue missions on major highways, including Kabul–Jalalabad and Salang 4️⃣ Humanitarian assistance and coordination across multiple provinces 📍 Summary: Afghanistan has experienced widespread and continuous snowfall over the past two days, affecting multiple provinces and disrupting transportation routes across the country. In Panjshir province, the Department of Public Works confirmed that emergency and systematic snow-clearing operations were launched immediately, resulting in all public roads being reopened and traffic now flowing normally. More than 76 kilometers of roads under contracted responsibility have already been fully cleared twice, with preparedness measures in place for potential future snowfall. In Parwan province, several routes that had been closed due to harsh weather conditions have also been reopened. The Kheshko Valley road in Siyah Gird district, previously blocked by heavy snow, was successfully cleared by the Parwan Engineering Unit, restoring access for local residents. Authorities in both provinces have urged citizens to observe safety guidelines during severe weather and cooperate with relevant institutions to prevent accidents. Meanwhile, Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, has been blanketed in snow, transforming the city into a striking winter landscape and creating a lively atmosphere among residents. Across the country, rescue operations have intensified, particularly on major highways where travelers were stranded due to heavy snowfall. On the Kabul–Jalalabad highway, units of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the Central Corps 313 carried out large-scale rescue operations in the Sherkhan Kot and China areas along the Sarobi–Tagab route. Nearly 150 vehicles and around 900 passengers, including women and children, were safely evacuated using military vehicles. In a separate incident in the same area, a vehicle slid off the road and fell into the river, resulting in one fatality and three injuries; the wounded were transferred to a local health center, and the vehicle was recovered with a crane. Additional rescue efforts were reported on the Salang highway, where security forces trapped by avalanches near Pul-e-Pahlawan were successfully rescued, with officials confirming that all survivors are in stable condition. Similar weather-related challenges have been reported in Jaghoori district, Herat province, and along the Hairatan highway, where border forces conducted rescue missions for stranded travelers. In Bamyan’s Shibar Pass, stranded passengers received food assistance, while authorities supervised snow-clearing operations on the Hajigak Pass and restricted travel until full reopening. Emergency response teams from the National Disaster Management Authority continue to operate nationwide, providing aid and coordinating with local institutions. Further rescue operations were carried out in Paktia province, where 17 miners trapped by severe cold and snowfall were saved, and in Baghlan and Herat provinces, where military units freed vehicles stuck on major transit routes. Authorities reaffirm that emergency and humanitarian services remain on full alert across the country as winter conditions persist. ⏱ Video Chapters: 00:00 – Introduction & Nationwide Snowfall Overview 01:20 – Panjshir Road Clearance Operations 03:10 – Reopening of Routes in Parwan 05:00 – Kabul–Jalalabad Highway Rescue Mission 07:30 – Salang Pass Avalanches and Emergency Response 09:40 – Humanitarian Aid in Bamyan and Northern Routes 12:10 – Rescue Operations in Paktia, Baghlan, and Herat 14:20 – Conclusion & Public Safety Advisory 🔔 Subscribe to The Reportify for verified updates, ground reports, and real-time coverage of Afghanistan’s unfolding stories. #thereportify #afghanistan #winterstorm #snowfall #emergencyresponse #salangpass #panjshir #parwan ——————— ⚠️ Disclaimer: This report is published solely for informational and journalistic purposes.
