This was my first DIF (Drone Industry Fly-in) 25. Believe me when I say it poured it really did pour. This was my first opportunity to meet both professional, hobbyist and industry equipment providers. This also provided an opportunity to watch a drone, with permission, to fly unto 1000ft. I met another drone pilot professional Rich Naylor and his friend Phil. Along with reuniting with Simon Adams, first meeting with Director of US (Unmanned Support) Graham Degg and as for Sean (Geeksvana), unfortunately he was very unwell to attend. It was an opportunity to put best practice into play instead of trawling social media and seeing the 'send it up' brigade. I started off with an orientation exercise prior to the flight and then hovered and maintained level with the height of the trees and up and then performed a RTH. This meant that if my drone were to crash due to instruments out of sync this is mitigated early on by the fact it is close to me and my observers/spotters: Rich and Phil and checks were carried out. I purchased my first enterprise drone from Drone Safe Store (in attendance at DIF25), and I also got see Dronedesk and quickly bought my annual subscription. I met CEO Alexander from Airborne Robotics and their impressive AIR6 Systems - what a set of drones - different level. All in all, a great day out and I'd suggest that drone operators and pilots attend DIF26 it's good to geek out with fellow and like-minded people. Get ready for DIF 2026 (two days of drone community interaction✌🏾😏)
